Neurodiversity options

Apr 13, 2023

Hi - my team is working on best-practices for creating content with neurodiversity in mind.  We've already worked a lot around other areas of Accessibility, but we'd like to explore what can be done for learners that may be bothered by very contrasty colour palettes or moving images that may appear on a screen alongside text (gifs for example).

Now, this could be a feature request for the Storyline dev guys, but we were thinking that it would be nice to have an option at the beginning of a course where a user could choose either the usual brand-compliant version, or a version with a reduced-contrast palette with less distracting imagery.

I'm aware that we could build such an experience from scratch, but we have limited resources and it would be nice if such an experience could be automated.

Any pointers welcomed :)

Hello Vincent,

Thanks for reaching out!

Since you need two versions of your course, you can consider building both and then allowing your learners to branch out depending on the version of the course that they chose. You can include a menu at the start of your course allowing your learners to select from  brand-compliant version, or a version with a reduced-contrast palette with less distracting imagery, and then navigate them to the corresponding slides.

And, since your main concern is accessibility, we have this document prepared which contains tips on how to design accessible courses in Storyline 360:

Hope this helps!
