New Day, New Problem! :) Text-to-speech very choppy and parts missing

Feb 09, 2024

I have done an entire project using Record Screen and then overlaying Text-to-speech.

The problem is, the audio is not good.  It is broken up and missing parts.  I have tried to recreate that piece, publish/republish etc.  but I can't figure out what is wrong.  I have attached a sample I would appreciate any guidance you may have!

Thanks!

Wendy

Hi Wendy,

Happy to help!

This is the text that was entered into the text-to-speech box for your audio, which doesn't match the text displayed on the slide.

The Surviving Spouse question is pre-filled when using ProFiler. Only change this if the answer is NOT "NO", if it is, Simply press Enter or click 'Next Question' to continue.

It also doesn't make use of SSML tags to add emphasis or pauses. Can you confirm if this text is correct? And have you considered adding SSML tags to your text to add emphasis to the output?

Hi Wendy,

Thanks for the update. I edited my response just as you sent your reply but just to recap, it looks like the text that you entered in the text-to-speech field doesn't match the text on the slide. The text also didn't form a consistent message. Can you confirm if the text that was used to generate the audio is accurate?

Wendy Williams

If we are talking about the RETRY slide with the audio on the master, that wasn't working then Yes, it is accurate. But this is a different issue, I THINK, let me get you this audio, sorry, I think I misunderstood which THING we were talking about! LOL

Here is the text, and how I entered it.

Probably not the best verbiage, but I could clean it up if I could hear what it sounded like. :D

Hi Wendy,

Thanks for the clarification. When activating the retry slide, I hear "Not quite, why don't you try again?" which is the exact text that is entered in the text-to-speech function. Here's a link to the sample published output. Would you mind checking this link and letting me know if you are hearing the same thing?

Wendy Williams

Yes, thank you. I think I got that working. Did you see my follow-up email. I sent the wrong text . I bigger issue is that on the regular slides (demo file ‘bad audio’) the voice is all broken up and choppy. I am not sure, but I may have gotten that fixed too, (it might have been my machine) if you get a chance to listen to THAT one, I would greatly appreciate it!

So to be clear. The feedback slide audio is fine, it is the base slide audio that is the issue here. The sample you sent me, didn’t have any base audio, but the slide I sent you does and now that I listened to it again, it sound fine. It must have been my computer. Maybe a reboot was all it needed. So sorry to take up so much of your time for ‘nothing.’

Have a great weekend.
