New to Storyline 2

Dec 29, 2014

I have been using Articulate Studio '13 for approximately 4 months.  I recently downloaded the free trial of Storyline 2 and have watched a few videos and read a few articles on how to use Storyline 2.  What is the best way to learn how to use Storyline?  It looks quite complicated.

Hi Heather!

Thanks so much for coming to the E-Learning Heroes with your question! We're always happy to help, especially a newcomer such as yourself who is just learning the ropes. Don't worry, Storyline might SEEM a bit intimidating when you first get into it but you'll see that the learning curve is quick and as soon as you start building some samples and practising you'll see it's not only easier than it looks, but it's fun!

We've got lots of tools available here in the community to help get you started, notably this free Getting Started with Storyline eBook which will guide you through creating your first course, as well as this Getting Started (Overview of Articulate Storyline) series by Tom Kuhlmann which includes step-by-step videos.

Another great way to learn the tool and to get in some good practice is to participate in David Anderson's Weekly E-Learning Challenges. Every week is a new theme and community members create their own submissions and share them for feedback (if you want). It also gives you some content to include in a portfolio, if you have one or want to start one eventually.

If you have any other specific questions or if anything else comes up let us know! We're always here to help!

Hi Heather,

StoryLine2 is perhaps the easiest product to use when compared against Captivate and Lectora. I admit the new user interface is a bit intimidating because of its similarity with MS Office 13 navigation and features.   Please contact me directly if you are interested in discussing its features.  You can also connect with me on LinkedIn www.linkedin.com/in/73alexandersalas
