Have a look at the attached, revised file and see if that's what you want. I changed the triggers slightly, so that the Next button is initially disabled and gets enabled once the slidelayer's timeline is complete.

I'm not sure what you mean. Something (a button click, the end of the timeline....) has to trigger the jump to the next slide. It's up to you to determine how/when that action should be triggered.
Michael, I followed your example and when I click the next button on the layer it doesn't move on. What am I forgetting? I want the next button to show up when the timeline ends on the layer.

The slide (2.1) in your file is set to automatically advance. Make sure it is set to advance by user.
