Next slide advances animation?

May 07, 2014

Hi guys,

I think what I'm trying to do is probably pretty simple, I just need to figure out how to do with variables, but I could use some help. In essence, all I want to have happen is the first time a user clicks advance, an animation plays. The next time they click next, the slide can advance as normal.

ideas?

Hi Grapas,

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

You can't really trigger entrance and exit animations for a slide. However, what you could do is create an animation on a layer and trigger that layer to open when the base layer's timeline starts, if they value is equal to your variable's initial value.

I think that might be the easiest way to go about it, but I'm sure others will have some suggestions as well :)

Good luck on the project!

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I meant triggering animation for an object. So it should be Next-->Animated object (text box)-->Next-->slide Advance.

I kind of got it working by putting the object on a layer, and showing the layer when the user clicks next and also setting a variable to true when the timeline ends(and not allowing slide advance until variable=true). But it still makes you wait until the end of the timeline to advance as it has that variable. it would be great to just have a trigger for an animation, but I may be doing it wrong.

Hi Grapas,

Thanks for the additional information and sorry for misunderstanding!

You could certainly do this with variables, but it might be easier to just do this with states.

For example, you could have the animated text's initial state set to hidden. Then position it on your timeline. Have the "Next" button change the state of the text to "Normal", which would animate and display the text. Then, have the "Next" button advance when the text's state is normal.

I worked up a very quick example and I've attached it to this response.

Let me know if this is something that will work for you!
