I am trying to import PowerPoint Presentation with Audio (MP4 Video) attached. It seems to not be importing the audio. There is no sound once uploaded.
Is it audio within a video, or are you using an M4A audio file? If so, there is currently an issue with M4A audio not importing from powerpoint correctly as described here with a workaround to pull the audio in as well.
Our Company purchased a course off the shelf that I need to import into Articulate and the files that came in the folder where the PowerPoint Presentation and a MP4 Video file. That is what they sent for the audio file? Could it be they sent me the wrong file?
Yes I can insert the video file into storyline as a standalone video. The only issue with that is you can't advance slides on your own accord. You are just basically watching a video that you can just pause and play.
I'm not sure I'm following this set up - once you've inserted the MP4 file, you're no longer able to use the triggers or slide properties of Storyline to allow the user to advance to the next slide? How does the file behave in the stand alone powerpoint for the purposes of advancing?
well when I open the powerpoint they sent me there is no audio/video attached. so I am thinking that the two files maybe totally seperate at this point. Unless you can think of a work around I am going to just have to insert the video file in and let that play as the whole course and they will just not be able to do anything other than pause/play. :(
Without seeing the files and set up myself, I'd say go with the option you mentioned here to insert the video file and allow it to play. You could always look at adding in some elements such as quizzes or other interactive pieces to make it more than a "sit and get" type of course.
The item you all may be particularly interested in is how it fixes an issue where M4A audio files in PowerPoint wouldn't be imported into Storyline. You can download the latest update here, and after downloading and installing the latest update you’ll want to republish any existing content to ensure that the updates and fixes are applied.
I'm on v8.16 and have a PowerPoint 2013 file with audio inside on each slide (.wmv format), none of the audio is imported into Articulate. Am I going to reimport the audio on every single slide?
Hi, Web -- Thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear of your troubles! Can you please confirm the that you're following the import process here, and also confirm that your powerpoint file and .story file adhere to these general guidelines:
I am adhering to the import process. Files are stored in C:\projects. My Articluate Storyline file was brand new. The PowerPoint file is 2013. I upgraded to the latest version 9.1605 and the problem still persists.
Hi, Web -- Many thanks for the additional details and sorry to hear that you are still encountering issues! I would recommend that you connect with our Support Engineers via this form, and if you are able to share your case number, we would be happy to follow along with their investigation!

Hi Denise,
Could you share the MP4 file? Have you tried adding that directly into Storyline vs. import it from powerpoint?

Hi all! I wanted to provide an update here, as Storyline 2 Update 8 was just released, and included a number of fixes which you can see in the release notes available here.
