No sound when previewing course

Hello,

I'm building a course that has quite a lot of different components. It's a mix of scenes - some scenes are just text based slides, some scenes are mp4 videos with audio, some scenes are screen recordings (view, test and try modes).

Some of the text based slides have audio (mp3) with captions.

The problem I've got though is that the audio on the text based slides isn't playing when I preview the whole project. It does play if I just preview the scene.

Also, when I preview either just a single scene or the whole project, it takes ages to load into the player.

The storyline file is currently saved locally on my c:\ drive. I had to create a folder in the root of C:\ as the My Documents folder redirects to OneDrive. (I'm using a laptop running Windows 11, i7 processor, 64 bit OS, 16GB RAM.)

I don't think it's too large (currently 23 scenes) but I might be wrong, The file size is just under 200MB. My LMS can cope with file sizes upto 900MB

Unfortunately, I'm not able to upload the file as it contains confidential information.

Any ideas as to why it might be happening? I'd rather not have to chop the course up into smaller courses.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue with the audio not playing when you preview the entire project. I'd like to ask a few clarifying questions to help me troubleshoot.

  • I understand that the audio plays as expected when you preview that one scene. If you preview the entire course, do all other elements of the course, except for the audio on the text slide, play as expected?
    • If not, there could be a corrupted element on one of those slides. One way you can narrow down the issue is to preview small batches of your course until you find one that isn't working as expected.
  • Have you tried importing the slides into a new Storyline file?
  • Lastly, have you tried publishing your file to Review 360 to see if you get the same result?
