not able to trigger the state change

Jun 03, 2013

Hi,
I am new to StoryLine platform and i have an issue regarding dragAndDrop and states change functionality.
Here are 2 stroyline files in attachment as DragAndDrop_defaultStates.story and DragAndDrop_customStates.story.
Both have common functionality as, If i drag and drops Rectangle 2 on Rectangle 4 and Rectangle 3 on Rectangle 5, respective rectangle (Rectangle 2 or Rectangle 3) changes state to
"dropped" and "notdropped" for file DragAndDrop_customStates.story And changes state to "Drop Correct" and "Drop Incorrect" for file DragAndDrop_defaultStates.story and submit button changes state to normal.
This functionality is not working for DragAndDrop_defaultStates.story file. May be reason is "Drop Correct" and "Drop Incorrect" are inbuilt states of storyLine.
also if i drop the rectangle outside of target, it goes back to "normal" state in DragAndDrop_defaultStates.story and not in DragAndDrop_customStates.story.
Anybody knows where i am doing wrong?

Also please tell me, how to set position of any object on button click. i am looking for reset the position of dropped objects on click of reset button.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Sachin.

Sachin,

Here's my take.

1. The submit button in the default states file seems like it should be changing to "normal" similar to the other custom states file.  This looks like a bug to me.  Could you please submit this?    http://www.articulate.com/support/contact/submit.php

2. I believe the reason the objects return to normal when dragged back in the default (but not the custom) has to do with using the built-in drag states.  In the custom states, I think you'd have add a trigger to change them back.

3. You can't position an object upon button click (at least not with any stock triggers).  You can, however, reset the entire slide which would move the objects back to their starting positions.  You could do this by having a reset button than triggers a jump to the slide. And have the slide properties reset to initial state when revisiting.

I hope this helps!

Mike
