Optimal Story dimensions to fill a browser window (no Sidebar)

Aug 23, 2013

I am trying to find the perfect dimensions to my story file so that it will completely fill a browser window (with all browser controls removed.) My Project does not use the Sidebar. If I set the ratio to 4:3 the resulting storyline content comes out as an almost square shape.  This is because setting the story size does not take into account the outer shell of the UI. It only sets the size and ratio of the inner content.

I have experimented with various sizes this is the screen with the story size set to 1000 x 580.

However my second window is not exactly the same size as what my client's LMS creates so I am only guessing what the true ratio / size should be. Has Anyone else had this issue?

I'm bumping this thread. I've read several threads about optimal story dimensions and I don't believe I have a clear answer. Does anyone have an optimal resolution setting they could share that would get rid of the extra white space on the sides of the storyline file?

The company I'm working for mostly deals with a workstation resolution of 1280x800 (4:3) aspect and a laptop resolution of 1600x900 (16:9).

I know there isn't an ideal resolution that will fit both but i'm willing to try different types of resolution to get that filled browser experience.

Hi Roger,

The only thing I have been able to do is design for the smaller of the 2 screens. I have taken to adjusting the color of the html page background, the outside player borders and the player background gradient so that all are the same color. Its not ideal but at least teh "wasted" space is not as readily apparent.
