Optimize video before importing into Storyline?

Oct 12, 2012

Hello,

I'm spending way too much time encoding my videos in Storyline right now. It feels like the encoding engine in Storyline is ineffective. Inserting a 3 minute video takes an hour with the encoding. I'm having a hard time charging my customer for time spent looking at my computer screen.

I'm shooting my videos in 1280x720 @ 50fps AVCHD (panasonic GH2) and converting the video in Premiere CS6 to 923x519 @ 30fps AAC. I'm running Storyline in Win7 32-bit Pro via Parallells in a Mac Mini Mid 2011 (i5, 16GB, SSD).

I've been using the default media quality settings in Storyline + now I've tried maxing out the quality and it just goes on and on.

Any suggestions on how to make the encoding faster?

I've been using Adobe Premiere Elements lately to convert videos into AVI before importing into Storyline.  A couple have been around 2-3 minutes.  Does take a bit longer to import the longer they are but usually under a minute.  But I've got a pretty high-powered PC.  The conversion by Storyline to MP4 has been splendid.
