The lock-icon column is used to prevent an object from being selected/edited.

  • For example, locking a picture prevents you from accidentally moving it when you're placing labels on it.
  • If you can see an object on your slide, but you can't select it, check to be sure it isn't locked.

The eye-icon column in the Timeline can be used to show or hide an object.

  • When the eye icon for an object is deselected, that object won't appear on the slide. That also prevents editing it.
  • Select the eye icon for your text-to-speech, and you should be able to edit it.
