Pause a layer when the pause button is selected

May 04, 2020

Hello - I am building a slide that has multiple layers that come in at different cue points. That part works great. However, when the use selects the Pause button on the player... the base pauses correctly... but the layer that is currently playing does not pause, but continues to the end. Is there a way to make all sublayers pause their timelines, when the user clicks the pause button? The base layer contains all the audio for that slide, while the sublayers include the various animations.

Hi David,

If you want to pause the whole slide, the best way is to add a Pause button and trigger to pause the timeline. This will pause all the layers at the same time.

In the attached example, I have simply added two buttons to the base layer, a short video to the first layer (delayed by 2 seconds) and a bouncing arrow to the second layer (delayed by 4 seconds). Selecting the buttons will pause and the play all layers simultaneously.

Hope this helps.

Hi Dave,

If I want to have a button that toggles Pause/Play, I place both buttons on top of each other and simply hide or show the buttons as required. For example, when you click the Pause button the following triggers activate:

1.  Pause timeline this slide

2.  Change state of Pause Button to Hidden

3.  Change state of Play button to Normal

The reverse occurs when the Play button is clicked.
