I am trying to attach a PDF form to a storyline 360 course, and when added it won't download in the course. I have never had this problem before. What could be the problem.
Yes, that is exactly what I am diong. I am attaching the PDF to the resource section. It does show up in the External files folder. I haven't ever had an issue with this before. I am publishing to Scrom Cloud. In an attempt to put together a sample I created a one slide course and a 5 page participant manual sample, and it worked just fine.
Each module of the course is between 20 - 60 slides. The PDF I was I was going to attach to each module is a 261 page Participant manual that covers the whole course. (19 modules) My thought was they could download it at any point throughout the course. I guess it is maybe the size of the pdf is causing it to not be downloaded? Again I have never had this issue before. :)
So it's not downloading at all but you can see it within the external files folder of your published output and when you look at the Resources tab drop down? Have you tried this course in a few different browsers or from a few different networks to ensure the download isn't getting stuck within that? Do you see a particular error message when you try to access it or nothing happens? You can see the supported browsers for Storyline 360 here.
I'd also look into Wendy's suggestions in terms of the permissions issue and original location of the file when you're linking it into your course.
Let us know if you're able to figure out what's occurring or if you come across any other information that would be useful for troubleshooting.
The PDF is stored on my local drive before I upload it to the resource section. Once it is published and zipped it is in the External File folder.
I tested it, and I have uploaded the two screenshots. Both PDFs are uploaded the same way, and both are in the external files of the zipped published file. The one that is only 10 pages opens just fine. The one that is 260 pages won't open at all and I get the opps message.
If you've tested Wendy's suggestions and it still isn't working for you - could you also look at hosting that PDF online somewhere and linking to it as a web object? I do wonder if there is some type of download limit or overall issue with that file's size?

Hi Catherine
you mean it's attached via the resource link in the player. Are you getting an error message?
Which browser are you using? Is the publish to Web or LMS?
When the file is published can you see it in the external files folder?
Here is a quick sample I just did - published to web uploaded to webserver - viewed through Chrome.

Might be easier for someone to help if you can share the file.

Hi Catherine
is the PDF stored on a network drive? It could be a permissions issue?

Hi Catherine just throwing things out here -
Does the document name have any wildcard symbols or is it longer than 260 characters?
Have you tried renaming the PDF to something short like test to see if it works?
Could there be a download limit on the system you are using?
