Player button text labels lose their alignment after publishing

Apr 01, 2016

Hi. Once I publish the document, I notice the player buttons lose their alignment. Originally centered, they fall flush right.

Any hints, please?

Thanks.

Hi, Constantine -- Thanks so much for reaching out and for sharing an image of the behavior you are experiencing! Please try importing your file into a new file to see if you find improvement, and you may also want to check out the troubleshooting steps listed here. Also, please be sure to test your course in the intended environment or where it will ultimately be accessed by your learners.

If issues persist, please let us know and we'll see what more we can do! :)

Hi Christie -

I have another question which unfortunately involves 508 compliance. It's a strange situation that occurs with the customer's testers, something I have never heard of, and I am wondering (and hoping) if you have experience with this.

The tester opens up the course and begins tabbing through. The tabbing action shows much missing information including some roles and some names of objects. However, rolling over the objects with the mouse shows all correct information. Then, when returning back to the previous screen, all the information then shows up correctly, including while tabbing.

I am hoping you have heard of this and can pinpoint the cause. We cannot duplicate the error internally, and all our information is placed correctly.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, Constantine -- Thanks so much for your question, and while I will be the first to admit that my knowledge of 508 compliance is very limited, we'll see what we can do!

Could you share a bit more about the environment in which the customer's testers are running their testing? May I ask if they are utilizing an LMS and if so, is the behavior also being found in the SCORM Cloud, as that is the recommended environment for LMS testing?

Hi Christie - This hasn't been deployed yet, and testing is very, very local to their machines. That's another rub. One tester has been working on it and has tested it locally, and remotely from home. I know that's not nearly enough, but she's trying to figure out where the problem is occurring as well and has reached out to us before writing her compliance report. It is happening consistently on her side.

Why do you think LMS and SCORM could be a cause? And, as you can probably see, my knowledge of Compliance is also limited.

Thanks.

Hi, Constantine -- Thanks for your reply, and when I mentioned LMS, SCORM, etc., I was just trying to find out how the course was being published and where it was being tested.

Would it be possible for you to share the file so I can take a look and see what more I can discern? If you'd like to share your file for private review, here's the form you'll need to use and I will then reply via email from within your case with my findings.

Hi Christie –

We might be a little too early in the game to share files, especially because I don’t know the confidentiality requirements (it is a DHS project so I’m sure you understand).

Also, the testing is being done by their 508 compliance people, and so far, on 2 machines, so we don’t know if it really is even a real problem yet. Nor, would we even come close to be able to determine a solution until they at least set up a small user group.

So, let’s wait a bit until we find out more then go from there.

I want to thank you for your excellent response time and care. Believe me, it is highly appreciated.

I will let you know how this (hopefully) evolves.

Hi, Con -- It looks like somehow your reply got routed outside of the post here and read as follows:

"Hi Christie – Thanks for the reply. We are working to the next steps with this issue and trying to get permission from the client what releasing their documents would entail. Back to you when I find out something. Thanks again. Con"

I just wanted to share that here for anyone who may be following along, and yes, please let us know what more you can when you get a chance! :)

Hi Christie –

We have gotten permission from the client to share the files. They have sent us an NDA to sign by anyone who would be working on this on your end. But, I don’t think the forum is a place to do this so is there an email I can use that will go directly to you?

We can get this done and then I can forward you the files for you to peruse.

Thanks.

Hi, Constantine -- Thank you for your reply, and as I mentioned that accessibility support is not my specialty, I think it might be best to have you work directly with our Support Engineers, so here is the form you would need to use to submit your case. Please be sure to upload the NDA and make note that it will need to be completed before work can begin on your file.
