Player size changes mid-course

Jun 30, 2023

I have a course that is sized 1920 x 1080.

When the course launches - all looks fine and is sized correctly.

As soon as it hits a slide with a full screen video element, (3 slides in) the slide view changes and zooms in. cutting off a third of the formerly visible elements.  While it is easily fixable by grabbing a corner of the browser screen and dragging it a fraction and all resets, (or clicking on zoom to fit button twice - then all resets) then the remainder of the course plays just fine, it is an odd frustration for a learner to have to do (and not all will know what or why it is happening and how to fix it).  (If I don't resize the window, the course plays zoomed it and cut off.

These are not the only full screen videos in the course.  There are several others - and they playback without any screen re-sizing.  All the videos are sized to 720 but set to fit the screen. And this is true for the files that playback without issue.

This playback issue happens in Articulate review and SCORM Cloud.

Any ideas?

Okay I think I might know how/why it changes size but is there a way this doesn't have to happen - The first few slides do not have a side bar on them - but as soon as the slide (which happens to have the video on it) appears with the side menu - the browser resizes pushing critical player content off the screen.  Do I simply have to add a side bar to the opening pages so that when the course launches it sizes correctly form the beginning?  seems odd it would force slide content off screen vs resizing the entire area...

I have two work around suggestions from Articulate - that work quite well - while they are working on a more permanent solution.

I propose two workarounds for this issue.

1. You can try enabling the option to "Sidebar starts collapsed." This option will prevent the bug from happening when the learners arrive at those slides. Learners could still access the narration by clicking the Here's a screenshot of where to find that: https://app.screencast.com/CV6i0VPCQa5bG
2. You can reset your slide using the "Zoom to fit" triggers. Here's a sample of what you must add to the first affected slide  - https://app.screencast.com/l9NcSDXHk6UA5
