Resource Videos

Jan 21, 2016

Hi Support,

I recently started this discussion:

https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/embed-videos

In summary:

  • We have created our own videos.
  • All our videos are uploaded to Vimeo.
  • Videos are embedded into slides using "Insert>Video from Website".
  • Videos in slides are not full size.
  • Resources - we used to insert videos from "File" (see 1.jpg).
  • Resources - I have tested linking to videos using "URL" (see 2.jpg).

In resources we want all videos to play full sized (i.e. like 1.jpg).  If we use "File" this makes the eLearning site too large.  If we use "URL" this does not open the video full sized, instead it opens the website.

Question:  In Resources is there a way of making the videos look like 1.jpg, but be embedded instead (i.e. not go to a website) but play full sized.

Thanks.

Hi Ashraf,

We have a Vimeo Pro account as well.  In Vimeo Pro i have added the maximise button (see 3.jpg).  In my slide view i can see the maximise button - see 4.jpg.  In my slide view the HD button is missing.  However when i publish to HTML and play the video there is no maximise button - see 5.jpg (there is a HD button).  Any ideas?

The embed options are not available for Resources.

Update:

Ideally we would embed videos in slides and have a maximise button for the videos.  Similiar to the "Zoom Picture" option for images (see 7.jpg).

It seems that Articulate over-rules Vimeo and doesn't allow a maximise button, probably because "Show Video: In slide" is selected (see 8.jpg).

If we had this option we would not need to attach the videos to the resources tab and then we wouldn't need to embed in the resources :)

Hi Ashraf,

I thought about the lightbox option, but this is too expensive for all our users becuase we will have alot of eLearning course with alot of videos.

Ideally we would embed videos in slides and have a maximise button for the videos.  Similiar to the "Zoom Picture" option for images (see 7.jpg) or allowing the maximise button that Vimeo creates but is subsequently disabled by Articulate.

The functionality to make a video bigger within a slide should exist, this exists for nearly every other video on any other website.

@Staff - any ideas?

Thanks.

Also - I just remembered the following as well:

When you embed website videos in your Articulate content, you may find the fullscreen button is either missing or not working in your published output. For security reasons, many web browsers are now restricting fullscreen mode for embedded iframe content. See this article for more information.
