I'm wondering how we can create a pop-up message to appear when a user clicks on "next" before the audio ends. Even though the restriction is on so that the learners cannot move forward before the audio ends, I want a pop-up to explain this to the audience. I also want the message to appear only if "next" is clicked before the audio ends. Is this possible ?
Yup - you can put that text on a layer and that way it'll appear over top of your slide. You may want to set the layer to hide when the timeline ends for example and set it to just a few seconds so it pops up and then disappears.
Hi, I included my text in a layer and completed the steps, however was able to create only the last two of the triggers below, therefore it's not working. since it's in the form of a layer instead of video, how would I create the first trigger ?
The answer to this intrigues me as well. Unless I am mistaken, the presented solution would only work if the menu was not locked.
However, part of the original question states that menu navigation is set to restricted which doesn't allow the next button to be used for anything unless the timeline ends. Right?
Hi Douglas, Yes, in our course, the menu is locked. Therefore learners can advance only when the timeline ends. However, if they do click on the next button before the timeline ends, I would want a message to appear to indicate that they cannot click on "next" until the audio is completed.
What if your audio was placed on its own layer instead of the base layer. That way, the base layer's timeline could end at say 1 second but the audio's layer could play independently. In this scenario, Walt's suggestion would work.

Hi Al! Looks like Walt has popped in to assist you here. Just let us know if you need anything further.
Thank you for the response Walt!
Does it have to be a video or can it be in another format ?
Audio works. My snapshot only shows video in the trigger because the slide I was working on at the time had a video on it.
Got it. I just want text (one sentence) to appear when "next" is clicked on. Is that possible?

Attach the first trigger to your audio.
Click on where it says unassigned and select your layer.
Hi Al,
If you're still struggling with this set up are you able to share the .story file here with us to take a look at?
Thank you Walt. I'm still having difficulties making it work.
Hi Ashley,
I need to share my .story.
What is the address I can send it to for the Articualte staff to view it ?

Right. What I was saying is that Walt Hamilton's suggestion only works if the menu is free. At least to my understanding.
A possible solution

Douglas - Good catch!
