PowerPoint Import problem with Articulate Font

Jun 02, 2014

We selected the Articulate Font as our default body text for the PowerPoint presentations to be imported into Storyline.  We have several different people developing PowerPoint presentations that two (2) us import into Storyline, add the voice over, synchronize the animation, and publish to SCROM.  We are having an issue with the PowerPoints developed by those without Storyline installed on their computers  not looking correctly when we open them.

My assumption is that they do not have the Articulate font installed on their system and PowerPoint is substituting a different font.  I downloaded an Articulate font from the web and it looks totally different than the one showing up in Storyline.

First question, is the bad formatting we are seeing in the PowerPoint due to the others not having the Articulate font on their system?

Second question, why does the online Articulate fonts look totally different?

Third question, if the answer to my first question is yes, where and how do I get a copy of the Storyline Articulate font for our PowerPoint developers to install in their system?

Thanks in advance, and I apologize if this was addressed elsewhere on the site.  I looked for a couple of hours trying to find something related to my problem.

Hi Merritte and welcome to the Elearning Heroes.

Your assumption is probably correct in that your other developers working in PowerPoint do not have the Articulate font.

First, there are literally thousands of type faces on the market and many are created by hobbyists who name their fonts anything they want. I'm not that familiar with that industry, but my guess is there's not much policing of what one can or cannot name a font.

I just did a quick search for "Articulate Font" and found several different styles - all of which are not the same font you're needing.

Another option is to go to grab the font from *your* computer and send it to your team members. Go to: C;/ > Windows > Fonts > navigate to the font. There are 12 typefaces. Select all and copy them. Then create a new folder on your desktop and paste the fonts into that folder. Finally, zip them into a package to send to your team (you can't zip fonts directly from the main Fonts folder so that's why you have to copy/paste them elsewhere first). I've created that zip for you here (attached).

Once they unpack and install on their computers, the font should appear as a font choice in PowerPoint.

HI Merritte and welcome to Heroes!

I wanted to share that I don't believe we have placed the Articulate font anywhere for public download - so as Kevin mentioned anything you found is not related to Articulate and our font within Storyline.

I also wanted to share some other information on importing Powerpoint into Storyline to help you as you continue in your project development.

You'll also want to ensure that the Powerpoint file and Storyline file are set to the same size, and that everyone is using a DPI of 96.
