Same for me, can't preview and can't play using the > in timeline. I could do both yesterday. running windows 8, lots of updates yesterday, uninstalled and reinstalled storyline, updated flash, any other options?
Can you check in a browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox what Flash version is installed (Chrome has it's own built in Flash version)? You can go to a website such as: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ you'll want to see the version 20.0.0.272
If you're still having difficulty after checking into that and have gone through the steps I mentioned above including ensuring you're on the latest update of Storyline, can you reach out to our Support engineers so that we can dig a bit deeper?

Are you able to go through the steps here to ensure you're using the latest update of Storyline 2 and Windows/Flash version installed on your system?
