Previous button not working with quiz questions

Feb 03, 2015

I have a Storyline 2 presentation which mixes content slides and questions.  The content slides have  "Next" and "Back" buttons but when you come to a question, you have to answer it so there is only a "Submit" button.  After you answer it and move on you can use "Next" and "Back" to review the presentation.  The problem is that the "Back" button on the questions doesn't work right.  It often sends people to the NEXT slide, creating an infinite loop.  On presentation slides, you can "hard wire" next and back to specific slides, but you can't seem to do that with questions, because the Next and Back aren't programmable as triggers (I don't think).  Any solution to this?

Thanks.

Thanks. I've attached the SL file.

Basically, if you go through the presentation to the end, answering the questions, then hit "Back" from the last screen, when you get to Check for Understanding 2, and hit the "Back" button, you go forward to "Strategies for Teaching Introductions and Conclusions" and so therefore are trapped in a loop.

BTW the answers to the questions are:
CFU1:  "While Lincoln addressed..."

CFU2: 1 "Ms Moore models...." 2. "Students write their working..." 3. Students write topic..." 4. "Students write their introductions...

CFU3: "Have students do a pair and share..."

Thanks again!

Hello Edward,

It seems as adding in the extra slides to play the videos, and changing the jump to triggers for the next and previous buttons is not letting the next and previous buttons work properly when revisiting the quiz slides.

Would it be possible to add the videos into the already made slides? The introduction, pre writing strategies, etc.?

If you keep the video in the slide, and assign the prev and next to jump to prev and next, they do work as expected. See attached for a sample revision. you could also add the next and back button into each quiz slide and have them set to jump to the appropriate slide as needed.
