"Print results" doesn't open another browser tab, it does nothing
Jun 19, 2014
So, I have published the same course two different ways (no, I don't have an LMS yet, that is a whole other conquest).
Published for CD, this method works, if the quiz is passed the success layer displays the button "Print Results", it opens another tab with the quiz results which my users can print.
Published for web, the course functions identically, runs in a browser window like it should, but when users click the "Print Results" button nothing at all happens.
So, my IT group is not a fan of .exe files being run, they say it's a security risk blah blah blah... they would much prefer all of the content to launch from the story.html file in a browser.
What might be preventing that results page from coming up in another window? A new tab isn't a pop up, so that's not it.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Hi Steve,
Welcome to Heroes! Is the published web output being uploaded to a Web Server before viewing it?
If you are, what browser are you using? What happens when you try a different one?
Are you able to provide a link for me to test?
Always Happy to Help,
Adrian
Adrian:
No, I wish we had a web server or an LMS, but all I have to work with are shared folders on a network drive. I have tried IE 11 and Chrome version 35. Same thing happens in both browsers.
Even running the CD version (via the .exe) the browser does open and in a tab are the results.
No, I don't have a link to test :(
Thanks, Steve
Hi Steve,
I think because you are viewing it locally and the CD output works, that browser security settings or something else may be interfering with that trigger, since it basically makes an outside call if you will.
If you take a look at that link I shared above, it goes over some options to use if you don't have access to a web server. Tempshare will probably be the easiest one for you to use, if you choose to do so.

Good to know about tempshare for testing content, thanks for the link!
Ok, you were right, I had one of our IT guys create a quickie web server, once story.html is launched from there everything works the way it should.
Now to get an intranet to start with!
Have a great weekend!
Steve
Hi Steve,
Glad to know it worked. You have a great one as well!
