Printing out a likert scale in Storyline

Aug 28, 2017

Hi there,

My client wants to give students a reflection exercise based on a likert scale and he wants the students to be able to print out their responses in order to take it to their mentor for a discussion.  There are 16 questions in total so i have had to separate them into two slides as it seems I can only have 10 questions in one slide.  Grrrh.

My question is how do I print out the likert scale from the results slide in a useable format for the students and their mentors?  I am using one of the results templates in the 360 suite and the printed output in report.html is formatted appallingly and completely useless as a review tool for students. Does Storyline provide a quick way of formatting this output or does it rely on coding skills?

I'm sure that I can't be the only one that needs this.  It seems like a pretty standard feature.

Hi Matthew,
Thanks for replying. I have the print screen option available but this is
not very useful when I want to print the entire Likert scale survey which
is over 2 slides.

I considered trying to format the report.html file but can't find it in the
Storyline output. Do you know where it is saved?

Cheers Lilian

Thanks very much. Don't know how I missed it in my initial scan of the out
put. It is very frustrating, that given the fairly high cost of Storyline,
they don't provide a simple way for designers to include printing. This
option seems to be very dependent on coding skills. Not good enough
really. I'll see what I can do, but I fear my coding skills are not up to
this.

Cheers Lilian

Hi Lilian.  Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts here.  And thanks, Matt for the help!

Lilian, if customizing the report.html file doesn't work well for you, would you consider an outside-the-box solution like using a web based form tool for collecting that data and allowing the students to print their responses as well?  You could link to the survey from within the course.

As an example, this form-building software offers a way to print the completed form from the browser: https://www.wufoo.com/guides/print-forms/

One other note:  Replying via email includes your email signature with contact information in the public discussion.  You can edit it out if you wish!

Hi Matthew

Thanks for all your help. I'll look into these possible solutions.

Do you know if there are any plans for Storyline to include this as stock,
standard functionality so that learning designers don't have to be adept at
javascript, CSS, or need to integrate external tools. After all, we pay
fairly hefty licence fees for Articulate 360 and having an ability for
students to print something out seems like a fairly basic function to me.
Don't you think?
