Problem with stacking in Drag and Drop

Jun 05, 2015

I followed along on the "Create a Drag-and-Drop Interaction Using Convert to Freeform," but my drag and drop items line up in the column that extends outside of the target hot spot instead of tiling nicely in the target hot spot square. My slide looks exactly the same as the demo slide, but I can't seem to get them to stack across and down, just down. I'm using SL2. How can I fix this?

Hi Beth,

The location of where an object snaps to will be determine by what the drop target is and how you set up the drop target options. You'll find directions here on how to set it up.

Tile - will drop on top of your target so that just the corner edge is showing, kind of like fanning out a deck of cards.

Stack Random - will have the object appear on the target, but in no particular location.

Stack offset - will have the object appear on top of the target, offset just to the right a bit

Free - will place the object on top of the target wherever the user lets it go

Snap to center - place the center of the object over the center of the target

Whatever you select will apply to all the items on that slide. If you'd like to customize it further than that, you'll need to put in a feature request.

Hi Chelsea,

Are you seeing the drag items stacked before or after they're dropped on targets? If it's when the objects are dropped on their target, take a look at the drop-down within the "Snap dropped items to drop target" for the other options such as Free or Tile. That would allow you to see them all or let the learner see them where they were dropped.
