Problems with Disabled State

Mar 19, 2021

Hi!
I'm a newbie at this but I already did some cool things; I'm really enjoying Storyline. However, I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong... I read posts in this forum, viewed videos; I think I did everything right... please help.

I built a game with 16 questions. The learner has to click on an object (a circle that triggers the question), choose the answer (it's a multiple choice quiz), get the feedback (built on a layer) and then go back to the "main menu" to click the object linked to the next question. I want that the objects of the questions already answered stay in disabled state. I triggered that state but the object is still clickable - what am I doing wrong?

Hi Susana,

This is a simple fix for a common error that everyone makes at some stage.

Triggers are actioned from the top down, in the order in which they are listed and so, in your case, the user is being jumped to the next slide before the state of the oval is changed to Disabled. Once the current slide loses focus, no further triggers are actioned and so the state of the oval is never changed.

To solve you problem, all you need to do is to change the order of the triggers to have the state change occur before the user is jumped to the next slide:

Hope this helps, but if you have any further queries, just get back to me here.

Hi Ned!

Thank you so much for your time and help.
Unfortunately, it didn't solve the problem. The buttons still don't change to 'Disabled' :(

In the Slide Properties I have 'Reset to initial state' (because it's supposed that the learner has unlimited tries). Maybe this is wrong??

I've published it again (maybe it was a problem with the preview) but it's still the same.

I don't know what more can I do.
