Progress bar help with variables

Apr 04, 2017

Hello, please help! I'm new to Storyline, have followed a tutorial in order to create a simple progress bar that measures how much of the course the learner has toggled through. The glitch is that the progress bar increases everytime the learner goes through the same pages. In order to combat this, I added a True/false variable and a trigger condition if variable is equal to value of false - and another trigger value is true when user clicks button. I have only applied this to one section but it's stopped the progress bar responding to that section.

Also - if I want this progress bar on every page, does it mean I need to include the same slide triggers on every page?

Thanks :/

Hi Anita,

I took a look at your course, and I think you're referring to the section titled "2 Outcome 1" - and so I stripped the course just down to that scene and the first scene where the progress bar displays. I did a preview and was able to see the progress bar update - although it seemed to go higher than I expected based on your variable count. I did notice that you were adding to the ProgressMetre variable when the user chose a particular box on slide 2.10 and then again on that feedback layer for Correct which could account for the duplicate addition.

But I'm not clear on how the progress bar stopped responding, so perhaps I'm not looking in the right section? Also, you could look at adding the progress bar triggers to slide masters to carry over to more than one slide, or using the copy/paste trigger functionality to keep using them on new slides.

Also, you may want to take a look at how some other folks have set up progress bars in these discussions:

Hope that helps and let me know if you have any other questions.
