Progress Indicator with question pool

Jun 25, 2013

Hi

New to using Articulate, and while I've set up my question pool so students will answer questions in a random order, I can't figure out how create a progress indicator, i.e. "X of 12 questions".

What do I need to do with variables to achieve this?

Hi Amiria and welcome to Heroes!

To begin, you will need to create a number variable (called 'QuestionCount' or something similar) and set the starting value to 0.

On each question slide you will need to do the following:

  • Add a trigger that adds 1 to the 'QuestionCount' variable when the timeline starts
  • Insert a reference to display the current result of the variable i.e. "Question %QuestionCount% of 3"

If your users are allowed multiple attempts at the assessment, you will also need to add a trigger that resets the variable back to 0 - how your project is set up will determine where this trigger is added but in my example attached, I have added it to the 'Retry Quiz' button on the results slide.

I hope this helps.

Thank You for this question and for the response!  I just finished converting my 1st quiz using Articulate Storyline couldn't find any built-in functionality for displaying quiz progression.  Very surprised that this isn't an included function of the Player, but okay!

The .story attachment was very helpful.

Thanks!
