I have a course that, for some reason, isn't properly tracking slide progress. For example, if I am going through the course and reach a point where I want to take a break, I close out. When I come back to resume, it takes me to a few lessons back instead of where I left off.
I went through the course completely. Closing it from time to time. I reached the final slide, closed it, and attempted to 'resume' where I had left off. When I resumed, it took me to a different location. Presumably to the LAST time I had closed out of the course.
It's possibly that you've exceeded the suspend data limit as described here. There are some troubleshooting steps at the bottom of that article that may assist you.
