Publishing a link help...sorry!!

Oct 10, 2013

HI I'm new to Storyline and I'm simply trying to upload my published files to a server and then generate a link that when users click on it the module plays automatically...I'm sure this is on here somewhere but there's so much good info I can't seem to find this rather elementary process...

Can someone please direct me to the answer? Sorry : (

Hi, Shawn--Are you asking about launching?  Uploading?  Both?

The launch file for published Storyline projects is "story.html"--when that launches, it will automatically assess the browser, etc., and provide the learner with the most appropriate version of the course (Flash, HTML5, Mobile Player).  This is assuming you selected some of those in your publishing options.  I'm sure you're aware of the Tutorials section of the Forum?  Here's the section about Publishing various ways:

http://community.articulate.com/tutorials/products/previewing-and-publishing-your-project.aspx

There's a link on that page to info about publishing specifically for the web.  It's always a good idea to check out the excellent Tutorials section before posting a basic question, as most of the basic questions really can be answered quickly in there--often with brief videos that walk you through it.

As far as posting the finished course package to the web, when Storyline finishes the publish process, one of the options it offers is to upload the course to your server via FTP.  Assuming you have the FTP info for your server handy, that makes the process very easy. Once the file package is on your server, you can simply launch the course from the story.html file, and copy the full URL that ends in story.html in your browser's address bar to share the course with others.

Hope this helps!

Andrew
