Publishing Taking a Long Time
Nov 13, 2014
I am new to Storyline, attempting to publish a draft of a project for the first time, with the intention of putting it on tempshare for my boss to review. The project is 18 slides, with photo images, no audio and a few quiz slides. The project has been stuck in publish for almost an hour; I had no idea it could take hours to publish. I can't cancel the publishing, either. Any suggestions for how to 1) make this go faster or 2) get out of the publishing process?

This might be trying to save to a USB? That could be the issue. Even a force quit option would be useful right now.
Sarah,
It's definitely not normal behavior. For a file with that description, you should see it publish in a couple minutes or less (depending upon computer specs).
You should be able cancel out of the publish and start over. And yes, I'd publish to a local drive vs. the USB as that could also impact performance.

Mike, thanks for your fast reply. I can't even cancel the publishing or close Storyline right now; I would be happy to just start over and make sure this is being saved locally. Are there any force quit options I don't know about?
Hi Sarah,
If it's truly frozen, I'd go into Task Manager and cancel it out.
Ctl-Alt-Del
Start Task Manager
Applications
Storyline 2
End Task
If that doesn't work...
Ctl-Alt-Del
Start Task Manager
Processes
Storyline.exe
End Process
Thanks Mike. I double checked and the file was being saved to my USB, which is surely why that happened. I was able to unstick myself and save to my local drive. Whew!
Thanks for the update Sarah!
