Publishing to HTML5

Jan 10, 2014

I did a search in the forum about publishing Storyline to HTML5, and most of the posts were at least a year old. I am assuming that much has changed in the last year.

Is anyone successfully publishing their Storyline courses to HTML5 and delivering on iOS devices?

Anyone using Storyline HTML5 output on a Saba LMS?

I was told that the Storyline HTML5 published content is delivered as a bitmap, rather that text that can be searched, is that still true?

Thanks for your help,

Karen

We had success outputting to iOS devices when Storyline content was viewed in the Articulate Mobile Player. HTML5 output outside the player in desktop browsers caused significant layout issues for us, however. We made HTML5 output available as a fallback if Flash isn't available on desktops but Flash delivers a better experience. For one project that needed cross-platform compatibility we built in platform detection to deliver the most appropriate version (Flash, iOS or HTML5).

Thank you very much Ryan. It's quite helpful to hear your experience with HTML5.

In the very limited testing we have done so far, our course would not go to transcript in our LMS if we used the Articulate Mobile Player.

Karen, the Mobile Player App currently only supports LMS connectivity via TinCan. See here for some info: http://www.articulate.com/support/storyline/how-to-distribute-articulate-storyline-content-for-flash-html5-and-articulate-mobile-player
