Publishing to Tempshare without 10 day expiration?

Jan 19, 2016

Hi,

I have been trying to publish SL2 content for offline use on mobile devices. I was told that Articulate Mobile Player was required to run the content on mobile devices. I installed it on the mobile device.

Now the problem is, I don't know how to transfer the published files on mobile devices. I have read many discussions: some say use dropbox, some google drive, some google sites ... the discussions range from 10 months old to 3 years old. I dont know what features exist today and which ones dont, hence I dont know what to follow.

I have tried saving the published files on dropbox. I shared the link with myself and tried opening on the  mobile device. The mobile displays all the published files but when I click the html or launcher file , the mobile doesnt know what to do. I click amplaunch and the articulate mobile player launches, but with the message that it cant access the content.

In frustration I ended up purchasing a fairly expensive hosting space on ehost, with the intention that I may be able to host the published content there. But they are asking me to purchase a domain name as well !

To cut a long story short, Isn't there an easier, simpler way to just upload all the published file on amazon, like we do with tempshare, but without the 10 day expiry date?

Hi Fazal,

I know that lots of users utilize the Amazon or Dropbox or Google options (although Google is phasing that option out) and are able to access on mobile - but it is particular as to how you upload the contents there and without seeing the steps you've gone through it's difficult to say for certain why it didn't work. You'll want to take a look at the steps linked here for sharing the content using those few different options.

We don't have an option outside of tempshare which is really designed just for testing.

Hi Ashley,

Thank you for your reply. I have tried following the steps but i'm unable to get the lesson going on the mobile. I am attaching a screenshot pdf file.

In summary:

1 I created a public folder on dropbox

2- published SL2 lesson directly into the folder using the web publishing output.

3-once published, I shared the link of the story.html file with myself to open it from the ipad.

4-I opened the link from ipad and it took me to the dropbox page of html file.

There is something preventing the files to reach the Articulate Mobile Player and I have no idea what to do.   :(

Hi Fazal,

First thing, I'd look at publishing locally and then uploading the entire contents of your published output to the Dropbox folder. You'll want to make sure you get the resulting file as a public link, not just grabbing it from Dropbox.

This thread deals directly with running on an iPad - so you may want to take a look at the information there.

Thanks Ashley I got it. This link was very helpful: //https://player.vimeo.com/video/143914426

I was making a simple mistake of not correctly copying the dropbox link of
the html file.

I would recommend the above screenr link to anyone who wishes to distribute
articulate lessons via dropbox.

Thank you for all your help.

Regards.
