Puzzle advice?

Dec 30, 2020

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to create a puzzle in Storyline 3 and running into road blocks. The main goal of the puzzle is to show how each piece, when used correctly, is important to success. Using drag and drop, it doesn't look like there's a rotate feature and that's ok, as long as they have the opportunity to try the puzzle out at least three times I think the message is received. I can't get the puzzle to reset if they fail. Also, it would be nice to show some results. Wondering if anyone has a better idea for this activity. I'm open to suggestions. Thank you so much. Very much appreciated.

Hi Dianna!

So creative! Thank you for sharing the file with us. I'm excited to see what other community members suggest!

One small suggestion from me is to take advantage of the Results Slide to reset the puzzle! On the Results Slide, make sure to add a button to Retry Quiz, so the puzzle resets.

Again, I love seeing what you've built in Storyline 360! I'm looking forward to following along to see what others suggest.

Thank you, Lauren! I will add that!

Hi, Dianna,

Your puzzle looks great!

I think with just a few changes you'll be able to accomplish what you want. I would change the attempts to 3, so that way you get a "Try again" layer. On that layer, you can add a trigger to the "Try again" button to move the puzzle pieces on a Line motion path (which will have the same starting and ending point, right in the middle of your piece). You'll do the same thing for each piece of the puzzle. That way, when the user clicks on "Try again", the pieces will move back to where they started. After 3 tries, you can have the user go to the next slide, which can be a result one.

I am attaching your story with the changes I suggested - the results slide is the standard one, but you can change it to something else - Maybe animating each piece on a line back to the center to show the correct way?

Is that what you are looking to do?

Happy New Year!

Maria
