Question about Retrying a Quiz in Articulate Storyline

Jan 14, 2021

I was having a discussion with a coworker regarding retrying a quiz in Storyline 360.

If a learner passes a quiz, clicks Retry button and makes another attempt, which score is sent to the LMS? Is it the latest one or the highest attempt score?

Currently we show all questions again even if the learner successfully completed the quiz on the first attempt.

Example: First attempt score = 90, Second attempt score = 80

Hi, Henry,

I'm not an expert on LMSs. But here's how I see this.

The scoring is held in variables (Results.ScorePercent and Results.ScorePoints). Variables only hold one value. So if the user retakes the quiz, the most recent score will be reported, because that's what those variables will be holding.

IMHO, that's the way it should be. If someone's score decreases when they retake the quiz, I'd assume that they were just lucky to guess more correct answers the first time around. In other words, if they can't repeat or beat their initial performance, then they don't actually know the answers. To me, that means they don't deserve the higher score.
