Question on published courses and PNGs

Mar 03, 2017

I need some help to understand the contents of a published course:

We have some courses which make heavy use of graphics (mostly .png) resulting in files sizes of several hundred mb.

I have found out that I can reduce the size of the graphics by nearly 70% without loss of quality by further compressing the PNGs in the mobile folder after the course is published, thereby cutting the size of the course file by 40%. But I'm unsure whether this has any effect on the performance of the flash-version of the module? Can someone enlighten me, please?

Hey Martin,

I never really had many problems with performance using lot's on images in a project with Flash, unless the images were Full HD or higher. While they are compressed, they can still attain large file sizes depending on the type of image data saved. Unless the users machine is really low end it should be fine.

Are the images being animated at all? That could effect performance.
