Question slide issue with adding alternate text to individual answer options.

Sep 27, 2016

I am creating some quiz slides both multiple choice and true false. I can see under the customized tab button it allows me to add specific alternate text to my questions but when I go and try and select my individual answer sentences the alternate text option is only allowing me to edit the answer options as a group not individually. I used to be able to specifically select each answer sentence and type specific alternate text for that specific answer. Why is it suddenly only allowing the alternate text window to view the answers as a group?

Hi Tami!

Thank you! Yes, that did help.

I recommend utilizing the Size and Position window as the answer choices are not available for custom tab order, which explains why you are not seeing them broken down.

The Size and Position window lets you control an object’s height, width, rotation, scale, crop, and location. It's also where you enter alternative text, which is important for learners who rely on screen readers. See this tutorial for details.

Hi Leslie,

As one of my screen shot shows I did use the Size and Position button option to add specific alternate text to my quiz answer. But then when viewing the customized tab button my alternate text I just added under the size and position window is not there so my screen reader will not read my customized alternate text its only readying what is available under the  custom tab button window. I never had this issue before so if you have any more suggestions I open to trying anything.

(FYI I submitted a support case and the answer given back from the support team was to make my quiz slides a freeform slide. I then ran into another error where when I published my new freeform quiz slides in publish view the answers were already marked making it not really a quiz anymore if the answers were already marked) I have not yet heard back from support if they know why this is happening either.

Thanks

Hi Leslie,

Can I send you a file that has the specific slides i'm having issues with. They are answers that have acronyms. JAWS does not say the acronym word/letters correctly unless I go into each slide and spell out the acronym words and not have them abbreviated. For example if I have the acronym ALC it does not say A L C JAWS sounds it out like the animal ELK is being said. That is my main concern of being able to individually add each line answer item have it's own alternate text. Not keep it grouped together under the customized tab button.
