Quiz LMS reporting - can a fail still show as complete? (SCORM 1.2)

Apr 05, 2023

Hi all,

I've built a quiz that needs to show complete status whether or not the learner has passed or failed.

The learner's manager then runs an LMS report to check the score and discusses the outcome of the quiz during a 121 meeting with the learner.

The LMS Report is selected as 'Complete/incomplete' there's no other option that fits.  The tracking is set to "When a learner completes a quiz".

During testing it's still showing as 'In-progress' on the LMS when the tester fails the quiz.  Is there anyway that this can be changed to show complete regardless of the quiz outcome or is this a limitation of SCORM 1.2 and the LMS?

The score still needs to be sent to the LMS.

Is anyone familiar with a process that is opposite of this result?

We would like to allow the user to retake the course/quiz as many times as needed to pass, but record all the quiz scores and # of attempts in our LMS. The course should remain on the users transcript until a passing score is reached, however, our LMS restricts a user from retaking the course if they have a "Failed" status on their transcript.

Hi Holly,

While you're on a quiz slide you can select the number of attempts the learner is allowed on the quiz.  There's a drop-down list 'Attempts' select unlimited from the list.

With regards to recording each result, this will b down to the LMS I believe, so you'll have to contact you administrator about that.  Do you export as SCORM or xAPI?
