Quizzing in Storyline

Nov 25, 2014

Hello, If I want someone to retake the course because they failed the quiz how do I direct the slide next button to go directly to the first slide of the course to start all over again?  That way I don't have them just retake the quiz over and over.  Is there a way to do that?

Also what is the difference between Final quiz failure and Quiz attempt failure?

Hi Brittania

Wasn't sure if you were working in SL1 or SL2 so I have done a quick sample project file in SL1 for you to see.  You can either add a 'Return to content' button on the result slide or have the trigger on the Next button Jump to slide - and go to the first content slide - or you could have both.

Quiz attempts are the number of times you allow the user to try the quiz before you say - that's it.

Final quiz failure would be if you give them three attempts and after the third attempt they  failed  that's what shows on the result slide.  Hope that makes sense - shout out if it doesn't.

Hello Brittania!

You could also set the trigger on the next button to return to the first content slide on a condition that the Results.scorepercent is less than your passing score of the exam:

And then have the next button jump to the next slide if the Results.scorepercent is greater than or equal to your passing score. Hope this helps!

Thank you both.  I was trying to decide what to do.  The triggers and variables system is new to me.  I have to figure out how to use it.  But since the slides are always viewable to the user they can go back and view them at any time at this point.

I appreciate your help, I think I can definitely use this in the future as my next course I will be creating will have a quiz throughout the course and I want them to pass with an 80% based on all the questions as a whole.  If they fail I am trying to see what would be best to do.  Have them go back to the first quiz and start all over?
