there is not a way to open any of the files in the published output older directly in Storyline. You would need the .story file. If the .story file is on your shared drive, copy the file to your local hard drive and you can open it in Storyline from there.

The only way I know of to update a project is to use the .story file.
I don't know if it's possible to take a published course (the Output folder) and import it back in to Storyline.
