I'm a new Storyline user. Just captured my first data entry procedure using Storyline. Inserted it into a slide as a video. When I play the video (both in the editing window and Preview), the cursor doesn't move to show the required button click (it is "stuck" at the first clicked button), even though the video moves through the screens as if the buttons had been clicked. Thanks in advance for your help. Jim Momsen, CPT
Thanks for the file. I took a look and saw what you were describing, and even inserting it as a try mode - it only creates one slide as that's the only mouse action captured. Is this application being recorded in a browser or is it a locally hosted application?
The information I linked to (the link seems to work for me) can also be found here in regards to working locally.
The application that I am recording is a locally hosted application (not hosted in a web browser) and opens in its own window. Don't know if it makes a difference, but I'm also working on a dual monitor system.
You also saw what was going to be my next question - When I try to insert another Scene for Try Mode, I only get one slide.
First, just an FYI that replying via email includes your signature here, so you're welcome to edit your post and remove that information if you wish.
Since inserting the screen recording only shows that mouse cursor, it seems to be that's all it's capturing and it may be how the application is submitting information for Storyline to capture. You could test this out by looking at recording another application (say Microsoft Word or similar) and see if it captures all your mouse movements. If not, I'd look at conducting the repair of Storyline here.
It looks like your assumption is correct about the application that I'm attempting to record. I successfully recorded a process in Word during which the mouse pointer was captured and displayed correctly during playback.
I tried a different capture program with the original application and it provided a message that the to-be-recorded application was running in Administrator mode.
Is there an Administrator Mode option in Storyline?
Yes, Storyline has an option to "run as administrator" when you right click on the launch file (Storyline.exe) and you may want to try that to see if having the same privileges on your system allow you to capture all elements of that application.
I see the "Run this program as an administrator" option in the Storyline Properties under the Compatability Tab, but it is greyed out. I'll speak with my IT group to see if I can obtain this Privilege Level.
Storyline (and Articulate products) need to be installed as an administrator, but then activated by the end user - so you may want to see if they're able to change your profile settings to allow you that access.

Hi Jim,
Can you share a sample of the .story file here so that we can take a look at how it's behaving?
You'll also want to confirm that you're working on your project files as described here.
Hi Ashley,
Thanks for your reply. I've attached the story file.
I clicked the link you supplied and was taken to the general Articulate support page. Was there a specific item that you wanted me to look at?

Please feel free to keep us posted.
Hi Ashley,
I was able to have our PC Administrator access the Properties for Storyline and set the Run as Administrator field.
This allows me/Storyline to capture the application's information, including all mouse pointer movements, mouse clicks, and data input.
I am also able to insert the captured video into other scenes and create View It and Try It scenes.
Thanks again for all of your help!
