Remember check off items in a storyline check-list

Jan 26, 2016

Hi All,

I was just wondering whether there is a way for checked off checklist items in Storyline to be remembered. If so, what would be the best way to implement this? We are in the early stages of planning an e-learning module that it going to integrate a list of requirements (i.e. completing certain documents) for the course alongside the module content. Our students will access this via Blackboard and the requirements will be completed over several months. The purpose of the module is to allow our students to go back in to access this information and use the module as a resource to aid the completion of real-world tasks throughout the year.  Would this be viable?

Thank you!

Hi, Louisa -- Thanks so much for reaching out with your question! May I please ask you to clarify: are you looking for a type of 'checklist' course or do you want a checklist to exist outside of our course in Blackboard as a type of tracking for a variety of tasks?

If you are looking for ideas on checklist course styles, you may want to take a look at the following:

Or, this thread on using a "Compliance checklist" may be more along the lines of what you had in mind. Please let us know if you need more help! :)

Hi Christie - thank you for replying and the very useful links.

We were hoping to integrate the checklist into the storyline course, this will be separate from the rest of the learning module, linked to the home menu page for students to access as and when. If this is not viable, we were then going to looking into using blackboard.

The main question is as to whether the students progress will be saved as they update the checklist after checking into the learning module multiple times. Is there a good way to 'save' what they have ticked off as they go through?

Hi, Louisa -- Many thanks for your patience! If you are using Resume, the items in SL2 should save upon revisit, so you would want to set it to "always resume". But, if you need it to be tracked, an LMS would be your best option.

It's also important to mention that a slide’s state is only saved when your learners exit the slide. So, if you need a particular element of the slide to be saved, please keep that in mind. Does that make sense? :)
