Removing Scenes from player menu which are branches to parent section

Dec 25, 2023

HI and Merry Christmas to you!

OK so finally got section 1 pretty much together.

Here we have section 1, slides 1.1 - 1.5 where 1.5 is the branching slide for:

3 hospitality hideaway scene

4 Healthcare Discovery

5 Office Odyssey

6 Industrial Expedition

So scenes 3,4,5,6 are all branches from scene 1 (Section 1: Intro to Workplace Harass)

Once the user hit the 1.5 slide Forge Your Journey! (branching slide) their next slide is for the industry they selected.  then all subsequent slides in that scene viewed until the end.  Then jump to next slide which is section 2 is the next slide in the player menu.

What I'd like the player to do is after they hit the branching slide continue along in the section as though they didn't jump to scene (x) where x is one of the industries which are all listed in the player.

How do I remove them from the player and not break user navigation?

Please advise

Thanks

It sounds like you want the Menu to show the slides for the selected scene but not the other industry scenes. Unfortunately, Storyline doesn't provide a way to alter the built-in Menu while a user is taking a course. (It might be possible with JavaScript, but I can't help with that.)

You could delete scenes 3-6 from the built-in Menu by editing it in the Player (Customize the Menu in Storyline 360 - E-Learning Heroes (articulate.com) ). That could be confusing for the learner, though, if they see titles for some of the slides they visit, but not all of them. So it might be better to create a custom menu. Or just don't show a slide-by-slide menu at all; simply provide an overview of what's in the course (e.g., Introduction to workplace harassment, industry-specific information, and introduction to sexual harassment).
