Reset Results Not functioning correctly with Question Banks - Passing Score Points is not resetting
Oct 26, 2015
I have seen other posts similar to this but I have not found one that is exactly like what I am experiencing.
I have a course with 3 question banks. Each question bank has 8 slides - these are 2 case studies that consist of 4 slides each (1 non-question slide & 3 slides worth 10 points each) that are locked together. The Question Bank is set to draw randomly and include 4 questions. All 8 questions are set to "Always" Include in Shuffle.
At the end of each each case study for Question Banks 1 & 2, I have a trigger on a Continue button that takes them to the next question bank. On the last slide of the case studies in the third question bank, the Continue button trigger sends them to the Results Slide. If they have not passed, there is a Try Again button on the Failed layer with a Resets Results Trigger and a Jump to the first question bank. The Reset Results Trigger is at the top before the Jump trigger.
My goal is for the student to be presented with one case study (4 locked slides - 30 points) randomly from each question bank which is a total achievable points of 90 and they must get 85% or 76.5 points to pass
I went through the quiz once and got 50 points which gave me a percentage of 55% - so I failed. The Result Pass Points variable displayed as 85% / 76.5 points so this means that the maximum achievable points is 90.
I went through a second time and got 33% or 40 points. The Result Pass Points variable displayed as 85%/102 points - so this means that the maximum achievable points is now 120.
I think the reason for the 30 extra points is because when I went through the second time I got two of the same case studies, but one was new (I had not seen it in the first round). So that would be 30 extra points.
It looks like the "maximum points to pass" is not being reset even though the Reset Results trigger is resetting the score.
Is this a bug or is there something else I can do to get the "maximum points to pass" to reset rather than accumulate?
Note: All of the question slides are set to "Reset to Initial State" when revisiting.
Also, this is happening when I preview the course in Articulate, I have not tested this problem in the LMS.
Thanks,
Jeanette

Hi, Jeanette -- Sorry you are having difficulties, but thanks for your question -- let's see what we can do to help! It's always a good idea to test your published output in the intended environment to see if you find the same behavior there as you are seeing in preview within SL2. Also, if you would like to share your file, we would be happy to take a closer look, as that would help to illustrate the behavior you are seeing.
Thanks Christie. I just tested it in our LMS and got the same results. Where can I upload my file so that you can take a look at it?
Hi Jeanette! If you are unable to share your file here in the forums, you are welcome to share privately here.
Thank you Leslie. I am not able to share it in the forums - I just uploaded it.
Hi, Jeanette -- Just wanted to touch base and let you know that I have received your case/file (00683178) and I will begin testing as soon as possible. I'll be in touch via email with my findings shortly; your patience is appreciated. :)
Hi
I am having exactly the same problem with SL 360 although my questions are simpler, was there a solution?
Hi Anton,
I had a look into Jeanette's case, and it appears that the problem was file-specific. I see that you also chatted with my colleague Vevette about your file, and that she is going to keep you posted on her findings. Be sure to reach out here or to Vevette if you need anything in the meantime!
Thank you
