Resources Tab inconsistent behaviour

We currently have an issue that we cannot fix and which appears to happen inconsistently. This can happen (at times) when running the module through our LMS as well as from the desktop.
Ideally:
You click on the resources link in the Player, the PDF (or WORD doc) document opens in a separate pop-up borderless browser window on top of the module making it easy to retain you place in the module.
Unfortunately what can happen at times is:
When the user clicks on the resources link in the Player, the PDF (or WORD doc) document opens in a new tab which takes up the whole window and the users are then lost if they are familiar with Tabs.
Does anyone know a workaround or what may be causing this? Many thanks

Hi Lynne,
How links open is typically a browser specific setting and not something that is controlled by Storyline (unless you choose to open the item in a new browser instead of within the Storyline window for elements such as web objects). Have you looked into if the behavior is different for different browsers? You may find one that behaves in a way that suits your needs better and you could recommend that to your users.

Yes it seems to be an issue that can happen in Chrome.
We may need to look into rebuilding our module using web objects (as you suggest) so we can guarantee behaviour.
