Results slide not showing content when viewed on mobile phone

Feb 11, 2015

Hi

I have published my project for the web and ticked all of the boxes, i.e. HTML5 output, Use Articulate Mobile Player for iOS or Android and allow downloading.

The project works fine on the web but when I try it on my phone it won't display any results on the results slide.

The project can be found here:

http://www.webdev.adelaide.edu.au/counselling_centre/includes/articulate/cannabis_checkup_mobile/story.html

and I will attach the story file

Any help would be greatly appreciated - we are hoping to promote the check-up via QR code so we really need it to be able to work on a mobile phone (Just FYI we are going to make the format a bit more mobile friendly but we want to know it works before we go to that effort).

Thank you!

Tracy

Hi Emily

Wouldn't you know it, it worked perfectly! I am using an iPhone4.

Could you please confirm that you published for the web, rather than for LMS or Articulate online and that you ticked all the boxes (HTML5 output etc.)?

If you did publish in exactly the same way as I did can I assume there is some inherent problem with where I am placing it?

As always, thank you for your prompt and useful response.

Hello Tracy,

All I did was hit publish and left the settings exactly how you had them. I did upload into the SCORM Cloud for testing since it was published for LMS. Were you testing in your LMS, or from the local link right after the publish completes? Also, you will want to save and publish these files to a local source.

I did a save as on the file as well, it is attached here.

Also, FYI - when you reply via email your email signature will show up here. You can click on the edit button to remove this.

Hi Emily

The link I sent to the published version was published in the 'Web' tab not LMS - the story view was obviously still set to LMS but that version hadn't worked either that's why I tried the web tab. It was published and then uploaded onto our web development server - this is where I was testing it from.

So you published to LMS and your output was to set to SCORM1.2 in the last box?

Can anyone upload to SCORM cloud and if so how is it done?

I can call if you're able to receive calls :)

Hi Emily

Thanks, I’ll keep playing ☺

Can I ask does it work for you if you use your mobile to look at the project here:

http://www.adelaide.edu.au/counselling_centre/resources/

A colleague from our support area seems to think as it works correctly on the computer - where it would use Flash but then perhaps the rendering for the HTML5 on the phone isn't functioning correctly?

Could this be right?

Tracy,

Hmm, the link you shared did not work on my phone either. I did a quick republish of my Save As file shared above using web and it is working. Can you test this?

I cannot say for certain, but it is possible something may have been corrupted during your publish. Can you try to publish the updated file I shared and see if it still having issues from your end?

Hi Emily

Well, what do you know, it works.  My other project - the alcohol project - on the same page also doesn't work. Any ideas where the glitch may be happening?  I publish in the LMS mode all ticked and Scorm 1.2 as output, use the open  in 'view project', copy the contents and paste into a Dreamweaver local folder.

Thanks Emily!

Hi Emily,

Thanks for your help so far with this. Your version works on the mobile when I publish under Web. However, I've tried to duplicate this with another project that is also not working on mobile  (results page not showing) and simply publishing to web did not fix it. Did you do anything else to the file I sent you other than click Save As and change the name?

Thanks Emily!

Hello Tracy,

I did not do anything when publishing. I just left the LMS setting as they were and zipped the file and loaded into the SCORM Cloud. Then i did a save as to my local folder, and added it to this the post above. Then I published that file to Web for the testing in the link above.  Do you have the file for this project as well I could test?

Tracy Dancer

Hi Emily

I tried using the 'Zip' folder rather than simply the 'Open' folder that I usually use, to try and replicate what you did but still no joy with the alcohol one. I also loaded it into SCORM and then exported but same outcome.  The Results slide still doesn't work.

I have attached the alcohol story which works perfectly on the computer when published but not on a phone.

It is on the web at https://www.adelaide.edu.au/counselling_centre/resources/

Thanks Emily.

Hi Emily

It works on my iPhone4! Brilliant that it now works but ridiculously frustrating too! What would you suggest we do in future simply copy slides until they work? Not ideal really :)

Would you be able to send me the story file that now works or do you want me to have a go at copying the results slides?

Thanks for your persistence and patience on this one.

Hi Tracy!

Attached is the updated file.  I would suggest that if you see this issue again, to try the copying the slide into a new slide first. You could also try importing the file into a new file as well. Sometimes a slide or 2 can become corrupted, and importing them into a new file can help see which slides are affected. Luckily with this one you could see it was only the reults slide giving you an issue.

Post back here if you have any other questions!
