I've recently updated an extensive amount of training that I built last year. I've been getting several complaints that when staff exit and then come back later to resume... it's starting them at the beginning. I have trainings settings set to 'automatically decide'. I was concerned if I used from last saved point, I'd have more issues due to people forgetting to save. Can you tell me why this is happening??
When a user exits a course that's in an LMS or LRS, the program stores the appropriate suspend/resume data in the LMS/LRS. When the user resumes the course, the program can use that data to show the course as it was when the user left it.
Whether or not a course will resume when a user re-opens it depends on the settings in the Player.

every time you publish a course, it gets a new resume ID*
if you update the course on your LMS, the previous resume data will no longer match => no resume possible
* even if you don't change anything
The "Automatically decide" setting in the image you provided is in Slide Properties. It only impacts what happens when the user revisits the slide with that setting. You can find details about that here: Slide Properties in Storyline 360 - E-Learning Heroes (articulate.com)
