Resume saved state on revisit - does this save users quiz responses?

Jun 22, 2017

Hello

I am new to Storyline 2 and have created a Story featuring quiz slides. Each slide has a multiple-choice question and when the learner clicks one of the radio buttons a custom answer layer is revealed. The next button state also changes to normal when one of the radio buttons is clicked so they can advance to the next slide.

There are no results required as this is a checkpoint/self-help quiz but I would like to ensure that if learners wanted to revisit the slides at a later point, their answers would be saved.

If I set the properties of the slide to reset to saved state, would this solve the problem? I am not sure how this option works if you exit a course and then enter it again later on. The course will be published to an LMS.

Hi Claire!  Welcome to Heroes.  😊

Using the "Resume saved state" option in the slide properties, as well as setting the Player properties to "Always resume," should ensure that your learners are picking up right where they left off when they return to their course.

The Player article specifies:

If you choose Prompt to resume or Always resume, and if you'll be hosting your content in an LMS, do one of the following:

  • If your LMS supports bookmarking, mark the box labeled When running in LMS, ignore Flash cookie. The LMS will control resume behavior in this scenario.
  • If your LMS doesn't support bookmarking, uncheck When running in LMS, ignore Flash cookie. A Flash cookie on learners' computers will control resume behavior in this scenario.

Those articles are from our Storyline 2 User Guide.  It's so comprehensive and well-organized; I refer to it daily!
