Retry quiz: how do we limit the number of attempts?
Dec 14, 2017
We have a storyline quiz with ten questions. We want the learner to be able to retry the quiz twice. If they fail after the third attempt, we want them to re-take the entire module.
What is the best way to do that? We have three layers on the result slide: success, failure, and third try. We have a variable, "countquiz" that starts at 0 and gets incremented by 1 everytime the learner clicks the Retry Quiz button on the failure layer. And we have triggers on the base layer that say show failure if the score is below passing and countquiz is <=1. Show third try, with a message telling them to retake the course if countquiz =2 (i.e. if the learner has clicked the Retry Quiz button twice.) I've taken the quiz in preview mode five times in a row, and still don't see the third try layer. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks!

Hi Karin!
Smart idea to use three layers! It sounds like you're on the right track. Have a look at this handy tutorial to double check your triggers.
If you're still getting stuck, feel free to attach your file to a new thread comment! I'll be happy to take a look. 🙂
