I'm new to Storyline and most probably just blind. So sorry in advance if this is a silly question.
What I want to do is to return a drag object to it's starting point after a correct drop. But I've only found an option to return it after an INcorrect one.
Is there an easy solution or do I have to work with a copy of the drop object and state changes?
Welcome to the community. When using the drag and drop, the options to return the item to a start point are when dropped outside a correct drop target, or any drop target. Is there a reason why you would need it to snap back when it is correct? Or do you need it to return upon revisiting the slide for a retry of the question?
my idea is a quiz with product features. There is a list with icons representing features. The user should drag the icons on a product. If the feature fits to the product, the icon changes to green, if not to red. In any case the icon should snap back in the feature list, so that in the end, there is neat list with green and red icons.
Thanks Emily, this works fine, but... (of course there is a but, there always is:)
The user should get an imediate feedback (character with thumb up and a few more details to the feature) AFTER dropping. I placed this feedback on a separat layer. To show this layer on a "dragged over" action is somewhat too imediate:)
But even if I use "show layer" with "dragged over", the dragged object stays where it was when the layer was triggered and doesn't return to its initial place.
If you want a feedback to appear when they drop an item on a spot, the option to snap back to its initial spot would not work. However, if you use the "dropped on" trigger to show a layer, then they can move the item out of the drop spot and it will snap back to its original spot.
I am sure if someone knows a way to make this automatic, they will jump in and share. You may also be able to make a motion path of the item to go back to its spot after the item was dropped.
I settled for state changes. I Have two objects on the same spot, the drag object and a second one that is hidden. When dropped, the state of the drag object changes to hidden and the state of the second object to normal.
A lot of triggers and objects, but it works fine. Would be nice though if there would be an option to return objects after a correct drop.

Gordon,
Thanks for clarifying. Check out the attached file. You should be able to achieve this using the "Item dragged over" trigger in the panel.

Hi Gordon!
Glad you found a workaround. If you would like to see the drag and drop options change, you can submit a feature request here.
