Returning to a Slide and Suspending Narration
Jul 11, 2014
I'm working on a project that someone else set up. She has it so that you start at one slide and then select a topic to review and branch off to another series of slides. When those slides are complete you come back to the original slide, the topic(s) you chose are grated out and you choose another topic from the still active icons. However, each time you come back to the original slide the voice over for that slide starts up again. Can I suspend that narration so that it is only there the first time the slide is visited? Or is there a better way to make this all work?

Hi Ellen,
What we usually do is set up a true/false variable. We change the variable at the end of the slide the first time a learner views it and we change the trigger to say 'play media when timelines starts if var is equal to false"
Hope this helps

See attached an example of how this could be done using a True/False variable (on slide 1.2). When the slide's timeline starts, an audio file is played if a variable is False. Another trigger sets the variable to true. This way, the audio only plays once. Hope that helps.
Thanks Harri and Michael!
