Rotating a graphic
Aug 06, 2013
Hi. In one of our courses when talking about paradigms we use pictures to show how we see things differently from a different perspective. So for example, we have a picture which looks like a frog and then when you turn it 90 degrees it looks like a horse's head.
I have created 2 slide layers asking people what they see when they look at the picture, but I wanted to do a third layer with the pictures side by side and then SHOW the 2nd picture rotating until it matches the first. I can't figure out how to animate the picture so that it will come up in the presentation rotating 90 degrees. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I'm pretty sure there is no way to smoothly do this as the animation options are very limited in Storyline. Would it be okay if it was a choppy rotate? If so, you could create 4 additional layers, copy and paste the original in each, and rotate it by a quarter each layer. Create a trigger on the original picture to show the next layer that turns it a quarter. Shorten the object timeline to half a second, and add a trigger that goes to the next layer at the end of the timeline. Be sure to hide the base layer.
Not the best solution, but it's something. I've attached an example.
Hi Michelle and Matthew,
Welcome to the community, Michelle!
Matthew, I like your solution. Pretty easy to implement. The other way to achieve this would be to create the rotation in PowerPoint using Motion paths. Export that slide as a video, and import into SL. A bit more on this support page.
Many thanks to both of you, Matthew and Rebecca.
Hi Michelle! It looks like Matthew and Rebecca have taken care of you here, but I wanted to welcome you to E-Learning Heroes! Just let us know if you need anything further.
